Sleep and Body Composition
Young adults are at an increased risk for insufficient sleep as they balance school, work and social obligations. Approximately 50% of college students report excessive daytime sleepiness and exhibit behaviors and symptoms of chronic sleep restriction such as difficulty maintaining alertness followed by unintended drowsiness or sleep. Our lab is seeking young adults age 18-26 enrolled at Rutgers Univerisity to participate in the Sleep and Body Composition Study to assess the relationship between body composition and sleep architecture.
Sleep Extension in Adolescents Study
Getting a good night's sleep is important for teenage development. It helps with memory and learning, mood, and seems to be important for overall health. The purpose of this research is to determine if teenagers can increase their time-in-bed for sleep at night to 10 hours so that we can learn more about how sleep affects health in adolescents. High school students ages 14-17 years who are interested in participating in this study should fill out an inquiry here.
